Hola, my name is Alex Beck.
I've been traveling to the remote town of Xcalak (pronounced "ish-ka-lak"), Mexico for the past 10 years - and have fallen in love with the people, the food, the environment, and of course - the fishing! Xcalak is an unspoiled paradise that lies right on the Mexico/Belize border, and offers some of the best saltwater fly-fishing on the planet. I moved to Xcalak in 2015 where I guided for one season but now have my focus directly on coordinating fisherman with the local independent guides along with a focus on bringing groups to Xcalak at unbeatable prices. Join one of the local independent guides in Xcalak on your next saltwater fly-fishing trip whether it be for a day of fishing or a inclusive week long stay combined with lodging and meals. My main passion lies in the pursuit of the elusive Permit, but rest assured, if it swims we'll go after whatever you heart desires.
I also collaborate directly with Nick Denbow of The Western Caribbean Fly Fishing School & Catchafish Guide Services located 60km to the north in Mahahual. Nick fishes the many lagoons located around Mahaual (13 of them) for resident and migratory adolescent and adult Tarpon and Snook. Nick also fishes the many remote miles of Caribbean Coastline above and below Mahahual for bonefish, permit, tarpon, jacks and more.
Our recommended fishing week would have you fish the Chetumal Bay with one of Xcalak's local guides and also the lagoons up North with Nick. This package gives you the absolute full gamut of fishing experience.
I also serve as a local, on-the-ground liaison for booking any of Xcalak's local independent fishing guides. If you've fished with Evaristo, Chucho, Nato, Alejandro, Victor, Andreas, Felipe or Raul in the past, and would like to fish with them again, I'm your direct connection to making that happen.
