New owner/operators have put a lot of upgrades and improvements in Casa Parasio. CP is a 4 room B&B serving a full continental breakfast with a different hot dish each morning. All rooms feature King beds that can be configured to accommodate a couple or  2 separate single beds.  Down stairs rooms can add another single to accommodate 3 people.  Full kitchens in each room. Great location for multiple anglers wishing to do a little cooking and eating out combination.

PROS : Close to town. Full hot breakfast served with room price. Dock on property for pickup.

Cons: With the 3 single bed option, it may be a little tight.

PRICE: $120-$130 average



Full service hotel and bar/restaurant with dock. Seven beachfront rooms. Two room feature three beds to accommodate groups of 6 clients. All rooms have private balconies facing the ocean and are equipped with ceiling fans and purified water is provided in each room. Standard rooms are set with one double bed and one single bed. The Luxury rooms are somewhat larger, offering at least two and sometimes three beds beds and a small refrigerator. Daily maid service is provided with each room.

PROS : Close to town.  Attentive & gracious on site owner operator. Continental bkfst with coffee included in room price. On site restaurant and bar with great food. Dock to be picked up at.

CONS : If you wish to do cooking on your own Tierra Maya would not be an option.

PRICE:  $90-$120 average



Very nice 4 Master Bedroom Villa located close to Tierra Maya.  Each room has private bathroom. Great place for couples and best place for cooking facilities.  Best location for private home rental in Xcalak.

PROS - Close to town. Use of dock on neighbours property possible with asking permission. Pickup from fishing boats at dock. Large full kitchen.

CONS -  One bed in each room, King. Fishing groups clients need to share beds.  




3 Bedroom, 3.5 bath home located next door to Casa Paraiso.  Great location for small or large groups wanting to spread out a little and do a bit of their own cooking.  Spacious upstairs that can be rented by itself or combined with lower rooms for more beds.

PROS - Close to town.  Use of Casa Paraiso dock for pickup.  Large full kitchen.

CONS - Might need to share beds for accommodating up to 8 anglers.

PRICE:  $70 - $170 per night depending on how much of the house you rent.




The Flying Cloud Hotel is located right on the beach, next door to the dive center. XTC Dive Center manages this spacious three room hotel. The upstairs room has a king size bed, ensuite bathroom and private balcony. Downstairs are the Playa room, with a king size bed or two singles, full kitchen and dining room with ensuite bathroom. The Selva room has a double bed and if requested a single bed can be brought in, it too has an ensuite bathroom and food preparation area. All rooms come with coffee making facilities and we include use of the kayak free of charge for hotel guests.

PROS - Close to town.  Use of dock for pickup.  XTC Dive Center bar and restaurant located on site.  

CONS - Only three rooms, likely having limited availability.  On XTC property which may be a little "busy" for people wanting to be away from it all



7 room “rustically elegant” hotel on an excellent snorkeling beach: 2 one-bedroom beachfront apartments with full kitchens & pull-down Murphy beds in the living room (can sleep up to 5); 2 studio apartments with kitchenettes; 3 double rooms that share a common kitchen/library/living room. All kitchens are fully equipped & purified water is provided. Each room has a private balcony or patio with comfortable seating. On the roof, 2 star-gazing decks. Complimentary breakfast of homemade granola, yogurt and freshly ground Chiapas coffee is provided. Behind Sin Duda is the Santa Julia Lagoon, with dock and kayaks. Wifi, snorkeling equipment and kayaks available for guests.

This small Inn, run completely off the grid, has 3 suites available. Each suite is over 600 sq. ft. and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as a large living/dining area, and full kitchen. These well-appointed suites can comfortably sleep 2-5 guests. Each suite looks out on the beach, has a great view of the sunrise every morning, and the turquois blue Caribbean all day. Acocote Eco Inn is also home to a large palapa on the beach for coffee in the morning and gathering after a day of fishing to tell tall tales in the evening. In the palapa there is also the only fly shop in the southern Costa Maya. If you need tippet, line, extra flies or even if you break a rod or reel, we can get you back on the flats in no time.

Casa Verde

New rental location in the middle of downtown.  Large open floor plan with two bedrooms, dining room and spacious deck.  Sleeps 4 comfortably and more with hammocks and other possibilities.  This is a great rental for a couple looking for a long term rental or a small group of fisherman looking for a great base camp.

PROS: In town, large open areas inside house, large full kitchen, great deck with views of the ocean

CONS: In town(noise, less privacy), rustic, not right on the water.

PRICE:  $300/week  average

The Coral Garden Inn is ground zero for bone and permit fisherman wishing to focus mainly on DIY fishing. The inn has two spacious 1500 sq. ft. apartments with on-site caretakers and daily maid service.  Each has a full kitchen and two bedrooms with a queen facing the beach, two doubles in the back bedroom and a foldout futon in the living area. This property is perfect for family trips or if up to 4 singles want to share. Outside your door awaits the shallow flats that have an easy entry, a firm bottom, and no sea grass. While it is a longer drive from town and the guide boats, the great fishing outside your door might be worth it. Great snorkeling, 4 kayaks and access to the lagoon nearby.

PROS:   Spacious apartments, good for families or groups, Great for the DIY’ers

CONS:   Long drive from guide boats and town.  Would need to drive to and from town for guide bats each day.



New rental location in the middle of downtown.  Cozy 1 BR home with two queen beds.  Great location for couples of groups of fisherman willing to share beds.  Full kitchen and also located across the street from Xcalaks new taco shop!  Located 1 block from the water.

PROS: In town, full kitchen, waterfront

CONS: In town(noise), smaller quarters, less privacey

There are some other true budget conscious options ($30-$50/nt) such as rooms in people's homes and small "hotel" style rooms next to some businesses. They are extremely rustic and not for those wishing to enjoy beachfront locations or breezes. They have no websites but Alex can inquire with the owners of such if this sort of accommodation interests you.

Staying in lodging where making some food (Fish) is possible. We are happy to spend the last 1/2 hour of each day casting at mangrove edges to harvest some snappers and small jacks for your meals. Bay departure of 3:00 necessary.
